Powerful Practice: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Mindfulness in the Classroom
Mindfulness is a tool that educators are increasingly relying on to encourage calmness and reduce emotional reactivity in the classroom. But for some students, including those who are adversely impacted by trauma, infusing mindfulness without consideration of the impact of trauma could pose a risk of discomfort, perceived threat, or re-traumatization. In this course, we will explore ways to infuse simple mindful habits into daily classroom routines while keeping the needs of trauma-impacted students at the forefront of practice.
