Self-Awareness and Family/Community Engagement
This course examines Pennsylvania’s Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Education (CR-SE) Program Framework guidelines and the required competencies educators are expected to embed in their instructional practices. Participants will explore Competencies 1, 2, 5, 8, and 9, with an emphasis on reflecting on one’s cultural lens, identifying and addressing bias in the system, promoting asset-based perspectives about differences, maintaining high expectations for every learner, and recognizing and disrupting microaggressions. Educators will reflect on their current role and practices as they consider how greater self-awareness can support more equitable, affirming, and inclusive learning environments.
