Accessibility, or A11y for short, is often seen as a 1:1 solution for individuals with disabilities. The problem with this view, however, is that if we create content without considering accessibility needs proactively, we may need to spend more time and effort ‘working around’ barriers instead of tearing them down in the design phase. However, the THRIVES acronym provides us with a framework for creating content that focuses on providing accessible Tables, Hyperlinks, Inclusive Font, Visuals, Examination of Content, and Structure of Resources. When we create content that THRIVES we will ensure we meet the needs of every learner.
