What’s LIT Got To Do With It? Structured Literacy 101
Educators have a lot on their plates, and this can make it challenging to comb through and stay current on educational research and how that impacts our classrooms. One topic that has emerged from that research is Structured Literacy. States, including Pennsylvania, have even begun to enact laws concerning Structured Literacy. With that in mind, this course seeks to equip and empower educators with a very brief overview of Structured Literacy so that they can 1) identify the components of Structured Literacy and 2) explain the relationship between Structured Literacy and the Science of Reading. **Please note: This micro-course would need to be combined with additional professional learning experiences to fully meet Chapter 49 Pennsylvania state requirements for Structured Literacy professional development. See PDE’s Program Framework Guidelines for more information.
